Each computer architecture supported by Red Hat Linux boots the operating
system in a different way. However, once the Red Hat Linux kernel begins
booting and hands off the boot process to init, the
same events happen on each architecture in exactly the same way. The
only difference is in the way Red Hat Linux finds the kernel to load it in
order to start init.
For example, the Alpha architecture uses the aboot
boot loader, while the Itanium architecture uses the
ELILO boot loader.
Consult the installation information for each of the architectures for
detailed information about the different boot methods.
